Hi, I am Jannis, a documentary and editorial photographer from Cologne.

Telling stories has always driven me - without me really realizing it. I always wondered what makes me do or chose one thing or idea over another, what makes me think and feel the way I do.

Now I know: It’s the constant seek for another story to tell, for another chapter in a book that I don’t know the ending of. And I have found my way of telling these stories: photography - raising my camera to my eye to capture whatever is in front of the lens.

This is why you won’t find only one style of photography in my portfolio but both editorial and documentary work. I know it’s uncommon to photograph two topics that seem so contrary - but for me they are very much related.

Because at the end of the day, it all comes down to telling a story.

And my approach always remains the same: I want my pictures to be honest, authentic and meaningful.
